A carry permit (pistol permit) is required to carry and purchase pistols/revolvers in Connecticut. A hunting license or carry permit will allow you to purchase any long gun in Connecticut without having to endure the state imposed waiting period. In order to get a State Permit to Carry you must first obtain a local permit. A local pistol permit/temporary state permit may be obtained from the police chief in the town in which you reside or maintain a place of business. The first step is the NRA Basic Pistol course.

The NRA Basic Pistol Course is required in order to get your local carry permit. 

The Goal of the NRA Basic Pistol course is 

"to teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for owning and using a pistol safely"

Two-Handed & One-Handed Standing Shooting Positions

Items to bring to the course

Comfortable clothing.
Personal identification (Driver's License.)

Hearing and eye protection, ammunition and handguns will be provided for the course. Each course consists of the mandatory classroom instruction and actual range time.

The cost per person is $100.
